one day left.

Ok. Half a day. It's a balmy, sultry Sunday evening in Baltimore. The cicadas are whirring, the crickets are chirping. They don't know I'm leaving in approximately 22 hours. Leaving the country. Leaving the continent. For the first time in my life. I'm freakin out. This is epic for me. Of course, I meant to spend all day tying up loose ends, packing, saying goodbye, but I did none of the above. Instead, I hunted down a Canon S90 from Craigslist. Check it out:
http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/canon-powershot-s90/4505-6501_7-33765880.html I coerced my poor father into driving me across Maryland to get it, but it was worth it. Now I can't stop playing with it. This camera is by far the fanciest I have ever owned. I will cling to it like it is my newborn child. I will get to know it and it's idiosyncrasies on the 12 hour journey to ROMA. By the time I get there, I will be prepared to capture some Italian beauty with the respect it deserves. Of course, the hipstamatic will always be by my side. It is my trusty sidekick. Unfortunately, it doesn't quite match up with the Canon. I think I'll name her Lucia, after my favorite niece and a bad ass saint. She is the patron saint of the blind. She carries her eyes on a platter.

With luck, I'll be able to post pictures from it to this blog later on!

Got to go pack some things. I promise the next post will be eventful. Just persevere and you will be rewarded.

Watch out, Italy.

Here I come. I'm leaving in in 10 days for my great adventure. I will be WWOOFing in Italy from August 30th until December 15th. I couldn't be more excited and nervous! In case you're wondering what WWOOFing is, take a gander: http://www.wwoof.org/ .

The first farm I'll be staying with is here:
http://www.poggioaisanti.com/ita/index.html. I am going to try record as many of my adventures as I can on here so that I can share my experience with all of you, and anyone interested in WWOOFing.

So, of course part of this blog must include fashion. I've been looking for multi-purpose boots (the never ending quest) for my trip. I need a pair of magic boots that will fulfill the following tasks:

1. Support my farm-workin' feet.
2. Make me look tuff.
3. Keep me warm and dry.
4. Match all of my clothes.

I ordered 4 pairs of boots from Zappos so I could try them all on. This is the pair I decided on:

They're Dr. Martens! They're comfortable! They're TUFF! They're so cool. I think they're the ones for me. Let's see how they hold up.

Well, that's all I got for you just now. More exciting fashion updates will be coming until I leave for the REAL adventure. Ciao!
